For too long Italian football has been seen to be on the decline. Low attendances and a number of match-fixing scandals has seemingly left Serie A chasing the other top leagues in Europe.
But Juventus’ unbeaten title-winning season and Italy’s performances at Euro 2012 has sparked a renewed interest in Italian football. Following the midfielder’s set of clinics at the European Championship, everyone now wants a player who is modelled on him—and if the beard is thrown in too then that’s even better.
Serie A might not have the same appeal as the Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga, but Italian football has a magnificent selection of talents, many of whom could be stars in English football.
